Vanidols first started in North Hobart in 1991, making this their 25th year of operation. The original Vanidols was sold in 2012, and since then owner and chef Vanidol Lulitanond has opened the current restaurant on Macquarie Street called Vanidols South Hobart. One of the first Asian restaurant to offer Thai, Indian and Indonesian foods in Hobart, Vanidol mixed family recipes from his hometown of Bangkok with the experience he gained from spending 6 years in Darjeeling in India and his time working in an Indonesian restaurant to produce food that is quite unique. Van believes in using good ingredients, locally sourced and fresh, to produce food that is brimming with spice and flavour, the menu reflects the seasons and take advantage of the freshest produce when it is at its peak.
