  I wasn't really sure about this place when I first came here because it looked incredibly swish, and when they placed the napkin on my lap when I sat down the first thought that entered my mind was the amount of money that was going to disappear from my bank account at the end of the night. However, my friends from the Classical Literary Bookclub had chosen this place at the last minute to meet up. As it turned out, it was expensive, but it was certainly worth the time I spent here. The food was absolutely delicious (though a little on the small side) and the atmosphere was what I would expect from a restaurant in Paris (with the exception that the waiters were far from rude, not that the waiters at the restaurants I ate at in Paris were all that rude). The even had French accents which added so much more class to this place, though the price tag means that I am unlikely to be a regular. Still, it is a beautiful place to for a date night (which was something that was also suggested).

  I was honestly disappointed with the desserts. They lacked the overall refinery of French cuisine.There was quantity but not quality. The staff were however very nice and i have to say the atmosphere was quite nice with the french music in the background. The place itself was a bit shabby...not what i expected from looking at it from the outside. A quick glimpse at the bathroom and the entrance to it's kichen, (very shabby and questionable cleanliness) made me think that Madame Sousou could be so much more if such details were taken care of. Overall my experience was disappointing. I was really looking forward to be "wow-ed" but it didn't happen.

  Despite an aborted car park right out the front caused by a greedy parking machine that threatened to bankrupt us, we only got there a few minutes late for dinner and were seated by the window, best seat in the house. As the summer time sun shone its last rays over Brunswick Street, we started into a fresh but over stimulated bottle of Tasmanian sparkling before our souffle and consomme starters, both excellent. Mains were steak & frites and swordfish, also both excellent. Dessert was aborted due to entree and main portions being well proportioned! Service was very efficient and attentive.

  Happened upon this quaint little unassuming place in Brunswick St, and was pleasantly surprised. From the typical Parisian seating (facing out to the street) to the real French wait staff, it felt like a little bit of Paris had slipped through into Melbourne. The food was sublime, the staff friendly and the service prompt. Definitely going back there again!
